Paper Abstract

University of Leicester School of Arts PGR-ECR Conference

Art represents, re-presents, misrepresents, subverts and reimagines the world. Philosophies, ideologies and epistemes are disseminated, deconstructed and re-constructed through literature, film, painting, sculpture, digital art, and other media.

Researchers from the University of Leicester and other universities are coming together to present their research, connect and collaborate at The School of Arts Postgraduate Research Conference. With our keynote speaker Prof. Kit de Waal, we will be exploring in this conference how researchers in the Arts – and those working across disciplines – examine works and ideas to identify world views, both old and new, and discover radical or reformative ideas. In an age when art might be bereft of meaning or novelty, we want to ask how the Arts serve as a tool to re-invent, re-capture, re-frame or re-formulate the familiar into new moulds or fragments.

This is a FREE event organised by postgraduate researchers for postgraduate and early career researchers, but everyone is welcome – whatever your discipline.
